Ronald Koeman is reportedly still yet unable to take charge of an official Barcelona match due to incomplete paperwork.
The Dutchman took over from Quique Setien as Barca head coach on August 19 and was in the dugout for the friendly wins over Gimnastic and Girona.
However, Spanish outlet Cadena COPE claims that the Catalan giants are unable to properly appoint Koeman until finalising a severance package with his predecessor.
That could leave Barca without Koeman on the sidelines for their La Liga opener against Villarreal on September 26.
The report indicates, though, that the club are confident of reaching an agreement to officially get Setien off their books before that curtain-raising fixture.
Barca have one more friendly to play this pre-season, with Elche their opponents in the 2020 Joan Gamper Trophy match on Saturday.
