Barcelona boss Xavi has confirmed that he wants Dani Alves to extend his contract at Camp Nou.
The 38-year-old returned to the Catalan club in the latter stages of last year and has made six appearances since being registered at the start of January.
Alves's current deal with Barcelona is due to expire at the end of June, but it is understood that the La Liga giants have the option of activating a one-year extension to sign him until the middle of 2023.
When asked about the South American's future, Xavi said that he wants the right-back to "continue" at the club, hailing the impact that he has made since securing a return.
"I hope he will continue with us - Dani Alves can be considered a role model. His impact for our team is amazing, he helps us a lot," Xavi told reporters.
Alves has made three La Liga appearances since his return, including the full 90 minutes against Athletic Bilbao last weekend, scoring once and providing two assists in Spain's top flight.
The veteran has largely played at right-back since his return to Camp Nou but has also been used in midfield, with his versatility making him a valuable squad member.
