Bayern Munich midfielder David Alaba has revealed that he is close to a return to first-team action with the club.

The 20-year-old, who can also play in defence, sustained the foot injury in pre-season and underwent surgery in order to repair the problem.

"I have been out of action for over 10 weeks now. I have never before been injured this long. I'm desperate to make my comeback. I hope that Thursday's friendly will be my first game in quite a while again," Alaba told TZ.

Alaba made 30 appearances for Bayern last season.
