Mark Warburton: 'Brentford players will keep believing in promotion'

Brentford boss Mark Warburton claims that his side "deserve" their place in the higher reaches of the Championship following an impressive season back in the second tier.

Mark Warburton insisted that Brentford will relish the challenge of competing for promotion after seen his side move to within a point of the Championship's top two.

The Bees recorded an impressive 2-1 victory away at Norwich City yesterday afternoon to secure their third successive win.

Despite playing League One football this time last year, Warburton has refused to rule out back-to-back promotions, although the former city banker acknowledges that there is a long way to go before anything is decided.

"There is still a lot of football to be played but the fact is that we have played 27 games and we are just two points behind the leaders," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"There is a lot of talent in the squad and they deserved to be where they are. How far can this group of players go? Well if they keep believing in themselves, who knows?

"Hopefully we can keep imposing ourselves on games like we did today and then see where that takes us."

Next up for Brentford is a meeting with second-place Middlesbrough at Griffin Park next weekend.
