Brighton & Hove Albion boss Sami Hyypia dismisses relegation talk

Brighton manager Sami Hyypia plays down talk suggesting that his team is in a relegation battle.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Sami Hyypia has dismissed claims that his team is in a relegation battle.

The Seagulls are currently just one point above the drop zone in the Championship table following an 11-game winless run.

Despite his side's poor form during the past two months, Hyypia is only thinking about seeing them climb up the standings.

"We've spoken before about whether it's too early or late to say we're in a relegation battle, but all we need to focus on is being positive and concentrated in our games, then we will start to pick up wins," he told the club's official website.

"That's the only thing on my mind at the moment. I don't think of our position in the table, as it's important that you concentrate 100% in the next game, whether you are in the top or the bottom six."

Brighton continue their league campaign tonight when they entertain Wigan Athletic.
