Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has sought to clarify remarks that he allegedly made about Fernando Torres in a radio interview.
The coach compared the £50m Spaniard with infamous Blues flops Andriy Shevchenko and Mateja Kezman when speaking to Portuguese station TSF earlier this week.
"The whole words on Fernando were positive," Villas-Boas told reporters.
"I used them in the sense of the demands put on strikers at this football club, and [Shevchenko and Kezman] didn't perform in terms of the expectation of the fans and the club.
"We want to avoid this situation happening again."
Torres is expected to start for Chelsea when they travel to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.
