Diego Costa: 'I got fat but I will save Jose Mourinho's Chelsea job'

Diego Costa concedes that he and his Chelsea teammates have not done enough to relieve pressure on under-fire manager Jose Mourinho.

Diego Costa has called on his Chelsea teammates to take their share of the blame for the Blues' disappointing start to the Premier League season.

Manager Jose Mourinho has come in for criticism in recent weeks as the champions sit 16th in the table after winning just eight points from a possible 24 so far.

However, Costa, who has netted one league goal this season, says that he has not done enough to help under-fire Mourinho after revealing that he returned from pre-season 'a little overweight'.

"I got injured at the end of the season and then I went on holiday," he is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"Maybe I got out of my diet and when I came back I was not the way I was supposed to be. I was a little bit overweight. That affected my game.

"You can be selfish and blame it on the manager but I'm not going to do that. I'm responsible 100% and so are the other guys."

The Londoners sit 10 points behind top-of-the-table Manchester City.
