Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has thanked the club's followers for their support during his time on the sidelines.
Essien, who was out of action after suffering a serious knee issue in the preseason, returned to the lineup last month for the London club's 1-0 win over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge.
"This was my third big injury and you can imagine how I felt," Essien wrote on his official blog. "It was heart-breaking but I had to be strong and believe in my powers of recovery.
"I couldn't have done it without the support of my family, friends, everyone at Chelsea and YOU the supporters.
"The well wishes and messages you sent me kept me going and I cannot thank you enough. Now I am looking forward to helping the team win a trophy or two this season."
Meanwhile, Essien is expected to be handed a starting role against Manchester United this afternoon.
