Dietmar Hamann: 'Manuel Pellegrini will be sacked by Manchester City'

Dietmar Hamann believes that Manchester City will sack manager Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season.

Manuel Pellegrini will be sacked as Manchester City manager this summer, according to former Blues midfielder Dietmar Hamann.

The Chilean saw his side lose further ground on Premier League leaders Chelsea after losing 1-0 at Burnley on Saturday and Hamann believes that the lack of a serious challenge for major trophies could lead to Pellegrini's downfall.

He told The Mirror: "I wouldn't be surprised if there was someone else in charge at City at the start of next season.

"The club said at the start of last season they wanted to win five trophies under him. They won the title and the League Cup last season in Pellegrini's first season in charge.

"If City were competitive in the Premier League in terms of challenging for the title, then I'd say maybe he'd get another year. But I don't think he will."

Manchester City, who are six points behind Chelsea in the Premier League, face Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday.
