Eden Hazard: 'Samuel Eto'o pushes me to be the best'

Eden Hazard reveals that Chelsea teammate Samuel Eto'o has taught him to take more responsibility on the pitch and is pushing him to become the best player he can be.

Belgian winger Eden Hazard has revealed that Chelsea teammate Samuel Eto'o is pushing him to fulfil his potential and become one of the best players in the world.

After showing glimpses of his talent last term, the 23-year-old has developed into one of the Premier League's most consistent match winners and has scored 14 goals in 31 top-flight appearances this season.

Hazard attributes his improved goal return, and his greater contribution to Chelsea in general this campaign, to taking more responsibility on the pitch, something he feels Eto'o has taught him to appreciate.

He told La Derniere Heure: "Every day he tells me that I have to be among the best players in the world.

"In each game, he keeps telling me that I have to make the difference. He says: 'You can't leave the stadium without having scored a goal.'

"Before, I said to myself that I was just going to play football. If we won and I didn't score, never mind. Now, I say to myself that that is also football: always score, always show you can do things."

Eto'o joined Chelsea from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer transfer window.
