Paul Lambert slams rescheduled Chelsea clash

Paul Lambert believes that it is unfair that Aston Villa must face Chelsea in their rescheduled match next Wednesday.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has revealed his disappointment at the date chosen for their rescheduled match with Chelsea.

Lambert's men were scheduled to face Chelsea later this month but their opponents needed the game to be moved due to their involvement in the UEFA Super Cup.

The rescheduled fixture, which will now take place next Wednesday, means that Villa face Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in the space of eight days at the beginning of the season.

"There was no compromise there whatsoever," Lambert told reporters.

"We gave them five dates to choose from originally and then all of a sudden it's getting jammed in between Arsenal and Liverpool.

"We probably got 45 explanations but I don't know which one is true. I disagree with it. I don't think it was fair. I don't get it."

Villa travel to the Emirates Stadium to begin their Premier League campaign tomorrow afternoon.
