Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew believes that England have lost of "great" player following John Terry's decision to retire from international football.
Pardew, who was once linked with the England job, has also claimed that "the pool isn't great" in terms of defenders who could replace the Chelsea skipper.
"I just know for the manager of England, it's a blow because he is a great player and the pool isn't great for English players at the moment and the team. That's the tough end for us, but that is a personal decision John has made," he told reporters.
Terry retires with 78 caps to his name.
