Premier League: No plans to scrap Queens Park Rangers, Chelsea handshakes

The Premier League release a statement insisting that Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers will all shake hands before the start of their clash at Loftus Road tomorrow.

The Premier League have responded to the handshake controversy surrounding Chelsea captain John Terry and Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

Questions have been raised as to whether the pair will take part in the traditional pre-match formality as it is the first time that the duo will come face to face following Terry's acquittal of a racially-aggravated public order offence towards Ferdinand.

A statement regarding tomorrow's clash read: "There has been dialogue between the Premier League, Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea in relation to tomorrow's match between the two clubs.

"All parties understand and acknowledge that the pre-match handshake will go ahead as part of the normal pre-match activity."

Meanwhile, Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo and QPR manager Mark Hughes have both insisted that the players will shake each other's hands before the match.
