Andre Schurrle wanted Chelsea stay

Andre Schurrle admits that he wanted to stay at Chelsea following his move to Wolfsburg.

Andre Schurrle has revealed that he wanted to stay at Chelsea following his deadline-day move to Wolfsburg.

The Germany international winger joined the Bundesliga club on Monday for a fee of around £23m.

Schurrle enjoyed a fruitful first season at Stamford Bridge, but he struggled for action during the opening half of the current campaign.

The 24-year-old now hopes that he can get his career back on track at Wolfsburg.

"I wanted to stay, but the last weeks or last month I tended towards changing something because I wanted to do what is fun for me and that is to play football. I could only do it briefly at Chelsea in the past weeks," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"I am not here in Wolfsburg to sneak over the pitch seeking my form. I am highly motivated and will try everything I can to help the team immediately."

Schurrle scored 14 goals in 65 appearances for Chelsea.
