Fernando Torres: 'Cesc Fabregas would be great for Chelsea'

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres backs Cesc Fabregas to impress at Chelsea, should he complete a transfer to the club as expected.

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has admitted that the potential signing of Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas would be huge for the Premier League club.

Torres said that, while the Chelsea squad is already strong, the Blues lack a player such as Fabregas who can control the midfield and score plenty of goals in the Premier League.

"He is a kind of player that Chelsea don't have at the moment," Torres told Movistar. "Great players are always great signings. We know him well, he was one of the best players in the Premier League while playing for Arsenal and is a player who brings a lot to the team.

"He is a player who brings ball control and goals. If he feels important, if he feels like a leader he proved at Arsenal that can lead a squad."

Gerard Pique revealed on Wednesday night that Fabregas was about to join Chelsea.
