Mile Jedinak upset to lose captain's armband at Crystal Palace

Mile Jedinak admits that he was upset by Alan Pardew's decision to strip him of the Crystal Palace captaincy.

Mile Jedinak has admitted that he was hurt by Alan Pardew's decision to strip him of the Crystal Palace captaincy.

During pre-season, Pardew opted to give the armband to defender Scott Dann for the upcoming 2016-17 campaign.

Jedinak has claimed that he did not receive any warning that he would lose the captaincy, but vows to "get on with it".

"I was surprised, obviously," Jedinak told Australia's Fox Sports. "When you do a job with full commitment, it's never nice.

"When there's something that you regarded very highly throughout your career, especially with where the football club was at and where it is now, to be in that position has been a huge privilege and something I did with full commitment.

"You give your all to the task and hopefully that's enough but sometimes things get taken out of your hands and one way or another you have to accept it and get on with it and focus on the task at hand. It was a bit of a shock and I'm someone who has got a lot of pride so it wasn't the nicest thing that's for sure."

Jedinak has been a Palace player since 2011 following his move from Turkish club Genclerbirligi SK.
