Everton have reportedly been scouting Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes, as the club reignite their interest in him.

Everton are scouting Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes, according to a report.

The Portuguese international has made 22 appearances this season in the Primeira Liga, picking up two goals and assists in the process, while he has also featured six times in the Champions League.

The club were previously interested in the 23-year-old last summer, but he ended up choosing to stay in Portgual rather than make a move to the Premier League.

According to O Jogo, Everton have been looking at Nunes once again, with the club contemplating making a move for him in the summer, with the Toffees having a scout in attendance during Sporting Lisbon's recent match with Porto.

Everton brought in two midfielders during the January transfer window, with Frank Lampard bolstering that area of the squad by signing Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli.

The Toffees will be back in action on Saturday against Southampton.
