Hull City boss Steve Bruce admits that the race for promotion to the Premier League will go down to the wire.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce believes that if his side are going to achieve automatic promotion to the Premier League it will go down to the wire.

The Tigers succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to promotion rivals Watford on Tuesday, with Troy Deeney scoring the only goal of the game.

Bruce told reporters: "If we're going to do it, we're going to do it the hard way like you'd expect the Championship to be.

"Even with six games to go I'd still expect there to be twists and turns in it. It would have given us a nice lead and a nice cushion with six games to go."

Hull are second in the Championship, just one point ahead of Watford in third place.
