RB Leipzig head coach Domenico Tedesco reveals that midfielder Tyler Adams has already "said goodbye" to his teammates ahead of a proposed move to Leeds United.

RB Leipzig head coach Domenico Tedesco has revealed that midfielder Tyler Adams has already "said goodbye" to his teammates ahead of a proposed move to Leeds United.

The 23-year-old USA international is allegedly set to link up with compatriot Jesse Marsch at Elland Road, with a £20m deal close to completion.

The Athletic reports that Adams will fly to the UK for his medical on Tuesday, with Leeds hoping the transfer can be finalised before they jet off for their pre-season tour in Australia.

Speaking to RB Live after a training session, Tedesco said: "[Adams] said goodbye to the team on Monday. The topic is finished.

"He was very liked here; he is a really good player and fine character, the farewell hurts.

"If a player is unhappy with his playing time, we have an extremely large number of players in the centre, then you have to understand him and fulfil his wish."

Adams made 24 Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig last season, but only 12 of those were from the start, while he also featured eight times across the Europe League and DFB-Pokal.

The American has previously worked with Marsch on two occasions during his career, firstly with MLS club New York Red Bulls between 2016 and 2018 before linking up again at Leipzig, where Marsch only lasted five months in charge at the beginning of last season.
