Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri describes his side's draw with Middlesbrough as "very good".

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has described his side's 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough this afternoon as "very good".

The Foxes had to rely on a 94th-minute penalty from Islam Slimani to take a point from an encounter in which their opponents had 60% possession.

Boos were heard from the home support towards the end of the game at the King Power, but Ranieri insisted that he was left happy with the "spirit" of his players.

"Now we could be tired but fortunately the character and spirit of the group is good. We knew it was a tough match, twice fighting back is not easy," he told reporters afterwards.

"Without Danny Drinkwater we lost something. It was difficult to surprise Middlesbrough, who showed good football to score twice. We showed fantastic character and it's a good performance in the end. I think the draw for us is very good.

"It was important not have to have three Premier League defeats. Lucky is someone who believes in something more. I feel we have to fight until the end of season. We are fighting for a relegation battle."

The Foxes are currently 13th in the Premier League, two points above the dropzone.
