Zinedine Zidane: Real Madrid "ready" for Champions League final

Zinedine Zidane insists that Real Madrid are now "ready" for their meeting with Liverpool, despite not yet deciding on his starting lineup for the Champions League final.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has insisted that his side are now fully focused on next weekend's Champions League final against Liverpool.

The back-to-back European champions have had less time than their opponents to prepare for the match in Kiev, having only rounded off their domestic campaign with a 2-2 draw against Villarreal on Saturday evening.

Zidane is glad to have got through the game at the Estadio de la Ceramica without losing any players to injury, with attention now firmly on Liverpool and potentially becoming the first side to win the European Cup three seasons running since Bayern Munich in 1976.

"I haven't got my starting XI for the Champions League final in my head, but we're ready," he told reporters at his post-match press conference. "Also, we haven't picked up any injuries tonight which was important. We're ready for this last match and Kiev final, which is the most special game of the season.

"We were good in the first half, but in the second period we managed the game with the final in mind. When that happens, the opposition can make life hard for you. The La Liga season didn't start well for us, but we have finished strongly. We have the biggest game to come and we're going to enjoy that.

"La Liga is now over. We have the Champions League to play and we're thrilled to be in the final. It shouldn't be a case of choosing. We want to win everything we can, but this year it wasn't possible to win La Liga and we are going all out for Champions League glory."

Real squandered a two-goal lead against Villarreal to confirm a third-place finish in La Liga.
