Liverpool striker Danny Ings will miss the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in training.
The 23-year-old, who joined the Reds on a free transfer in the summer, had established himself in the Liverpool side and has scored three goals in his last five games on Merseyside.
However, the forward will now miss the rest of the season after suffering the serious knee injury in training on Wednesday.
He will undergo surgery and will not return to the training field for at least six months.
Ings is the second Liverpool player to suffer an ACL injury in as many days, after Joe Gomez fell foul of the same misfortune during England U21s' 3-0 victory over Kazakhstan U21s on Tuesday.
