Joe Gomez to miss rest of season with ACL injury?

Liverpool reportedly fear that defender Joe Gomez could have sustained a season-ending ACL injury while on international duty with England Under-21s.

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez could reportedly miss the rest of the season with the injury he sustained on international duty.

The 18-year-old was forced off with a knee problem during England Under-21s' 3-0 victory over Kazakhstan on Tuesday, although manager Gareth Southgate said after the match that he hoped it would not be too serious.

However, Liverpool are worried that the youngster could have sustained an ACL injury and have sent him for a scan to determine the severity of the problem, according to The Times.

Should the club's fears be correct then he is likely to miss up to nine months, ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Liverpool are back in action on Saturday when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in Jurgen Klopp's first match in charge.
