Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has claimed that Andy Carroll should take any boos as a compliment when he returns to Newcastle United on Sunday.
The striker has not played at the Sports Direct Arena since his £35m move from the Magpies in January 2011.
Despite the expected jeers, Dalglish believes that Carroll should be excited about facing his former club.
"If you get booed, you take it as a compliment," said the Scot.
"I think he will be excited about it. It's the club he supported as a boy,
the club that introduced him and gave him his chance in professional
football.
"So I think he will be excited about it as a local boy and will be looking
forward to the game."
The Merseysiders beat Newcastle 3-1 in the reverse fixture at Anfield back in December.
