Daniel Sturridge pulls out of England squad

A thigh injury forces Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge to pull out of the England squad that will face Brazil this week.

Daniel Sturridge has withdrawn from the England squad to take on Brazil this Wednesday with a thigh injury.

The 23-year-old appeared to suffer the problem shortly after he had scored for Liverpool during the first half of yesterday's 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

However, despite the fact that he was able to play on for the majority of the encounter at the Etihad Stadium, England's medical staff have decided that Sturridge cannot be risked against the Brazilians.

He has become the third member of Roy Hodgson's squad to pull out of the friendly, with Michael Carrick and Jermain Defoe also sidelined.
