Daniel Sturridge: 'Raheem Sterling deserves more credit for performances'

Daniel Sturridge believes that Raheem Sterling deserves more credit for his form with Liverpool this season.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has claimed that Raheem Sterling deserves more credit for his form this season.

Sterling's role in the side became even bigger during Sturridge's spell on the sidelines with injury, and his England and Liverpool teammate is expecting the progress to continue.

"He can go as far as he wants to go. I am proud of him for everything he is achieving," Sturridge told BT Sport.

"I think if he continues to work hard and continues to believe in himself and has no distractions in his life – there's none now and I hope that continues. He's level headed and that's what I like about him.

"I think he needs to get the credit he deserves for things he's achieving because not many players are doing what he's doing in the world."

Recent reports have suggested that Sterling, who has been linked with Real Madrid, will reject the offer of a new contract.
