Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has revealed that he apologised to teammate Raheem Sterling after he neglected to pass to the winger before wrapping up his hat-trick in the 6-3 win against Cardiff City on Saturday.
Sterling raced through to meet Suarez after the Uruguayan had gone clean through late on, but the striker opted to shoot himself to score his third of the afternoon, despite the lengthy run from the teenager.
"Maybe I could have tried for the pass to Raheem for the last goal," Suarez told reporters. "But I went for the hat-trick for my confidence. I apologised to Raheem. I am so happy with the match ball.
"I feel very good because Liverpool won the game. We are so happy with the performance."
The Reds are currently second in the Premier League.
