Reported Liverpool target Sebastian Coates has revealed that he would prefer to join the Reds ahead of Manchester City.
Both Premier League clubs have been credited with an interest in the Uruguay international, although Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool appear to be favourites to sign the player.
The 20-year-old believes that a decision will be made on his future by the weekend and has disclosed that international teammate Luis Suarez was a large influence on making the Merseyside club his preference.
"I'd prefer Liverpool to Manchester City, but would need to see what they have to offer and would compare them," he told Ovacion.
"But having the help of Luis Suarez would be very important. I will be going to England, we are just missing a few details now.
"Liverpool is a club with great tradition and history, and Luis would be a great help to me. Suarez has spoken to Kenny Dalglish and his managers about my signing."
Coates currently plays in his homeland with Nacional.
