Liverpool are allegedly prepared to offer Naby Keita in a part-exchange deal for AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli.
Despite costing £52.75m in 2018, Keita has failed to make an impact at Anfield, contributing just six goals from 33 starts and 18 substitute outings in all competitions.
Aware that he has not held down a regular spot in the starting lineup, AC Milan are said to be considering an approach for the Guinea international.
However, according to Milan Live, that could be met by Liverpool looking to secure a deal for key centre-back Romagnoli.
Jurgen Klopp is looking to bring in a new player for the middle of his defence ahead of next season, resulting in a bid being considered for Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly.
Romagnoli could make better financial sense, however, with Milan also being open to finding solutions where they can minimise their outlay in the next transfer window.
