Liverpool are thought to have "immediately" turned down a formal transfer request from attacker Philippe Coutinho this afternoon.
The 25-year-old has been the subject of two failed bids from Barcelona in recent days - the more recent of which was worth £90m plus add-ons - prompting club owners Fenway Sports Group to issue a statement today declaring that he will not be sold for any price.
Following the announcement and amid rumours of a forthcoming £100m+ offer from Barca, the Brazilian is said to have submitted a transfer request by email.
According to The Telegraph, the Reds then "immediately rejected that [request] in line with the earlier comments from FSG" and they intend to hold firm with their stance regardless of any improved offers from the La Liga side.
Earlier this year Coutinho penned a new long-term deal with Jurgen Klopp's side keeping him under contract at Anfield until 2022.
