Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister suggests that he has no plans to leave Anfield amid claims of interest from Real Madrid.

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has suggested that he has no plans to leave Anfield amid claims that Real Madrid are keen to secure his signature.

The Argentina international made the move to the Reds from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer, and he proved to be a key player for the club during the 2023-24 campaign, making 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals and registering seven assists in the process.

Mac Allister has a contract with Liverpool until June 2028, but there has recently been speculation surrounding the existence of a release clause in his deal.

It is alleged that there is a buy-out fee of €70m (£60m) in the agreement, which is said to have alerted the attention of Real Madrid.

However, Mac Allister said that he is at "the right club" when asked about his farewell message from his now former head coach Jurgen Klopp.

Mac Allister reacts to Real Madrid transfer talk

"At one point we gave each other a hug and he told me that it was a shame that we had only shared a year, but it gave me a lot of confidence for the future and everything that comes," Mac Allister told TyC Sports.

"He told me what I knew, which was that I was in the right club to continue growing.

"Everything works well, it is not a club with big egos and everyone tries to help you as much as they can. On the field everything is different, because everything can be very nice outside, but you have to perform on the inside.

"I have had to play in various positions and I enjoyed it a lot, I am happy to be in a club as big as Liverpool."

Mac Allister played a vital role in Argentina winning the 2022 World Cup, and he is currently with his national team preparing for the start of the Copa America.

Will Real Madrid sign a new midfielder this summer?

Real Madrid will be losing inspirational midfielder Toni Kroos this summer, with the 34-year-old's final game for the club proving to be the Champions League final earlier this month.

Indeed, Kroos will retire from football after representing Germany at Euro 2024, but Luka Modric, who is also out of contract on June 30, is widely expected to sign a new one-year deal.

Real Madrid also have Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga as midfield options, while Jude Bellingham is expected to drop into a deeper position next term due to arrivals in the final third.

Kylian Mbappe's switch on a free transfer has been confirmed, while exciting Brazilian teenager Endrick will also move to Bernabeu this summer.

As a result, Real Madrid could wait until next year to sign a replacement for Modric, as head coach Carlo Ancelotti has more than enough options in that area of the field for the 2024-25 campaign.
