Sunderland are reportedly weighing up a loan move for Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates.
Gus Poyet is believed to want to add another defender to his squad, but has earmarked the majority of his remaining transfer budget for a striker.
Therefore, he is scouring the market for defender whom he can bring in on a season-long loan and the Daily Mail has reported that the 46-year-old manager wants to bring fellow Uruguayan Coates to the club on a temporary basis.
Poyet has publicly admitted that he wants to bring another Liverpool player, Fabio Borini, to the Stadium of Light this summer, but the deal has yet to reach a conclusion.
