Manuel Pellegrini confirms Vincent Kompany absence

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini confirms that defender Vincent Kompany won't feature against Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he expects defender Vincent Kompany to miss at least another two weeks.

Earlier this month, the club captain aggravated a muscle injury against Manchester United, and Pellegrini has confirmed that the Belgian centre-back isn't guaranteed to return to action before the end of the campaign.

The 61-year-old told reporters: "It's important how Vincent will improve in the next week. I think he'll be missing for at least two weeks more."

Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and Stevan Jovetic will also be missing for City's fixture against Aston Villa.
