Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph has branded his team's 1-0 victory away at Premier League champions Chelsea on Saturday "huge".
Delph was handed a left-back role for the Citizens at Stamford Bridge, and impressed during his team's one-goal success, which was earned courtesy of a 67th-minute strike from Kevin De Bruyne.
The three points means that Man City have regained first position in the Premier League table from Manchester United, and Delph has claimed that the victory has sent out "a massive message".
"The win is huge. We knew coming into the game it was our toughest of the season but we had a game plan and we stuck to it. The plan was to stick with them on the counter. I lost Willian a few times but I think we did the job to a tee," Delph told BT Sport.
"It sends out a massive message. We needed to come out on top today. There's a togetherness in the team and you could see that on the pitch today."
Next up for Man City in the Premier League is a home game against Stoke City after the international break.
