Pep Guardiola believes that Manchester City were worthy of their 3-1 victory over Arsenal amid comments from Arsene Wenger about the standard of refereeing in the game.

Pep Guardiola has claimed that Manchester City were worthy of their 3-1 victory over Arsenal amid comments from Arsene Wenger about the standard of refereeing in the game.

The Frenchman complained about a number of decisions from Michael Oliver, suggesting that City's second and third goals should not have stood in Sunday's Premier League encounter at the Etihad Stadium.

When asked about Wenger's comments, Guardiola replied: "We won in the best way.

"Sometimes it's like this, I was told it was offside and I don't want to win like this but sometimes Arsenal beat Burnley with a handball in the 96th minute.

"We cannot deny the last two months are amazing. We won all of the games. It's so, so difficult. In the recent past Barcelona and Bayern Munich won titles and we haven't."

The result extended City's lead at the top of the Premier League table to eight points.
