Joleon Lescott backs Manchester City for Premier League title

West Bromwich Albion defender Joleon Lescott backs former club Manchester City to regain the Premier League title this season.

West Bromwich Albion defender Joleon Lescott has revealed that he wants Manchester City to win the Premier League title this season.

The former champions top the table after the opening round of fixtures courtesy of a 3-0 victory over the Baggies at The Hawthorns on Monday night.

Lescott, who played in that match and also featured for City from 2009 to 2014, believes that Manuel Pellegrini's side have the right mentality to regain the title and backed new signing Raheem Sterling to help the Citizens overthrow Chelsea.

"It's early to say but I'm sure they expect themselves to win the title. Hopefully they will. I know how they think and I hope they do," Lescott is quoted as saying by PA

"Obviously it's evolved again. They have new faces coming in freshen it up and Raheem will add a different dimension. I wish him all the best and them all the best."

West Brom will go in search of their first points of the new season when they travel to Watford on Saturday.
