Manuel Pellegrini: Liverpool defeat a "complete disaster" for Manchester City

Manuel Pellegrini hits out at his players following Manchester City's 4-1 loss against Liverpool, claiming that he is "more than angry" with the manner of defeat.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that his side's heavy defeat at home to Liverpool was a "complete disaster".

The Citizens found themselves trailing by three goals with 32 minutes played at The Etihad, in a match that ended with the visitors running out comfortable 4-1 winners.

Pellegrini struggled to explain just why City were so slow out of the blocks on Saturday evening, as they failed to capitalise on Arsenal's earlier setback in a wide open Premier League title race.

"It was a complete disaster, the whole team," the Chilean is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "I am more than angry. It is unbelievable the performance we had. I have never seen this team play in the way they did."

City, who are now two points adrift of surprise leaders Leicester City, head to Turin in midweek to face Juventus in the Champions League.
