Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly identified Everton left-back Lucas Digne as a potential January signing.
Joao Cancelo and Nathan Ake have often filled in on the left-hand side of the City defence this season, with Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko struggling with injuries, and the latter is currently being tipped to leave after falling down the pecking order.
Digne is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, but the France international has been a key player for the Toffees since arriving from Barcelona and chalked up four Premier League assists this season before entering the treatment room.
Now, the Daily Mail reports that Guardiola has identified the left-back area as one that he wants to strengthen in January, and Digne has caught the eye of the City manager.
However, Everton are supposedly keen to tie the 27-year-old down to a new contract in order to fend off interest from Guardiola's side, with Digne's current deal at Goodison Park running out in 2023.
The defender has amassed five goals and 17 assists for Everton since his arrival, but Digne is not expected to take to the field again until the end of January at the earliest.
