Manchester City could move for Athletic Bilbao defender Unai Nunez at the end of the season, according to a report.

Athletic Bilbao defender Unai Nunez is reportedly on the radar of Manchester City as the Premier League champions prepare to sign a new centre-back at the end of the season.

John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi have both struggled for form this term, while Aymeric Laporte's long-term absence with a knee injury has seen holding midfielder Fernandinho pressed into action at the back.

Pep Guardiola will allegedly look to bring at least one centre-back to the Etihad Stadium this summer, and according to AS, Nunez has emerged as a potential target.

The 23-year-old, who is believed to have a release clause of £30m inserted into his current deal, has made 12 appearances for his Basque club during the 2019-20 campaign.

Nunez has also been capped at international level by Spain, but City are unlikely to have a clear path when it comes to signing the Bilbao academy product as Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Inter Milan are all said to be monitoring his progress.

The Citizens, who are next in Premier League action at home to West Ham United on Sunday afternoon, are also believed to be keeping a close eye on Swansea City's Joe Rodon.
