Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton are reportedly not regarded as contenders to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes this summer.

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes reportedly has no intention of signing for Wolverhampton Wanderers or Everton this summer.

The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best players in his position in Portuguese football, making a total of 37 appearances in Primeira Liga and the Champions League this season.

Such has been his form that a number of clubs in the Premier League have been linked with the player, including Wolves and Everton.

However, according to Record, Nunes is not interested in moving to either club, the claim being that they do not representing an "ambitious project".

The report says that Manchester City and Newcastle United are at the front of the queue for the Portugal international.

With Nunes possessing a release clause of €60m (£50.4m), Sporting are unlikely to consider a sale unless one of his admirers are prepared to pay close to that figure.
