Mauricio Pochettino: 'Luke Shaw was in tears'

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino reveals that he has spoken to Luke Shaw after the Manchester United defender suffered a double leg break against PSV Eindhoven.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he has spoken to Luke Shaw after the Manchester United defender suffered a double leg break against PSV Eindhoven.

The defender sustained the injury following a challenge by PSV defender Hector Moreno in their Champions League tie on Tuesday evening.

Pochettino, who worked with Shaw when he was in charge of Southampton, has said that he phoned the 20-year-old to offer him his support.

"It is difficult, I spoke with him this morning. He is much better today but it is always difficult with this type of injury," talkSPORT quotes Pochettino as saying.

"I only give my support and wish him a speedy recovery, but now he must only think about the recovery.

"Always it is difficult, he was crying. It's normal, you can understand after the big injury that was yesterday - not only because of the pain but everything around it."

Shaw underwent surgery in Eindhoven on Tuesday evening.
