Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's derby clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester United travel to the home of the champions for a huge derby match against Manchester City on Saturday as they look to make it back-to-back league wins for the first time since March.

The Red Devils ensured that Jose Mourinho's return to Old Trafford was an unhappy one on Wednesday night as they beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 courtesy of Marcus Rashford's brace.

Another huge test awaits Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side at the weekend, though, with Man City going into the game knowing that they can ill afford any more slip-ups in their bid to bridge the 11-point gap to Liverpool.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the derby.

Anthony Martial

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: December 7 (vs. Man City)

Martial missed the midweek win over Spurs with a "slight injury", but Solskjaer has confirmed that the Frenchman should be able to play some part on Saturday. Any appearance is likely to come from the bench, though, as he is not quite ready to start.

Paul Pogba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: December 15 (vs. Everton)

The derby will come too soon for Paul Pogba, who has been sidelined since September with an ankle injury. Pogba is training outside again now and Solskjaer still expects the midfielder to be back before the end of the year.

Eric Bailly

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: December 26 (vs. Newcastle)

Sidelined since July, Eric Bailly is hopeful of returning to action before the end of the year, although a January return may be more realistic for the long-term absentee.

Nemanja Matic

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: December 7 (vs. Man City)

Nemanja Matic only narrowly missed out on recovery in time for the Spurs game and is therefore expected to be available for a first appearance since October when United make the short trip across Manchester.

Diogo Dalot

Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: December 26 (vs. Newcastle)

Diogo Dalot has also been out since early October and faces another few weeks on the sidelines at least, although he is hopeful of returning before the end of the year.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: December 26 (vs. Newcastle)

Another player for whom a 2019 return remains a possibility, Timothy Fosu-Mensah has missed the entire campaign so far due to a knee injury picked up while on loan at Fulham last season.

Marcos Rojo

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: December 7 (vs. Man City)

Marcos Rojo suffered a muscular injury last month, with Solskjaer ruling him out for "a couple of weeks". The Argentine will face another fitness test ahead of the derby.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

United have no players suspended for this match, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka is only one booking away from a ban.
