Ander Herrera: 'Play me anywhere and I'll do a job'

Ander Herrera tells Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal that he is willing to play anywhere on the field as long as the Red Devils benefit.

Ander Herrera has told manager Louis van Gaal that he will play anywhere on the field providing it helps Manchester United.

The Spaniard, who played as a holding midfielder last term, was handed a No.10 role in Wednesday's 4-0 Champions League win at Club Brugge, setting up one of Wayne Rooney's three goals and scoring the fourth in Belgium.

"Time will tell if this will be a big night for me," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "If the manager wants me to play, I will play and if the manager wants me to wait for my moment then I will wait.

"I am realistic. This is the way I will approach things. I am a team player. I don't think about me. It's just the team. I am not selfish. I will play where the manager wants me to play.

"If I have to play holding midfielder, I will do. Last season, I played more as a holding midfielder than as a No.10, but if I have to play as a No.10, then I want to help my team by scoring and assisting."

Herrera has stiff competition to make that position his own, with Memphis Depay, Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj all previously playing there under Van Gaal at times.
