Rio Ferdinand: 'Give Angel di Maria time to adapt at Manchester United'

Rio Ferdinand believes that Angel di Maria needs time to find his feet at Manchester United after failing to make an instant impact at Old Trafford.

Rio Ferdinand believes that Angel di Maria will need time to find his best form at Manchester United following his transfer last summer.

The Argentine moved to Old Trafford from Real Madrid for a fee of £59.7m in 2014, but has struggled for consistency under manager Louis van Gaal.

During an interview with Goal.com, Ferdinand said: "It always takes time for a player to adapt to his new surroundings, especially when you go to a foreign league.

"Not every player can be like [Cristiano] Ronaldo and just turn up and instantly become a superstar. Maybe it will take Di Maria a bit longer. It might take him a year, you never know."

Reports have claimed that United are willing to sell Di Maria when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
