Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs will travel to Turkey this week to take an intensive coaching course, with the aim of securing a UEFA Pro Licence before his playing career comes to an end.
Giggs has decided to cut short his holiday to join the elite eight-day programme in Turkey, which begins on Thursday at the Under-20 World Cup finals.
If the 39-year-old passes the required tests he will become the first active British footballer to complete the mandatory course for Europe's top-flight coaches, according to The Times.
Former United teammate Gary Neville is also reportedly part of the 19-strong group taking the course this summer, with both men due in Istanbul later this week.
Giggs will then report for pre-season training with United next month, ahead of his 24th Premier League campaign at Old Trafford.
