Football Leaks has revealed that Manchester United paid more than reported for Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven last summer.
The Netherlands international, who has struggled for consistency this season, was reported to have joined the Red Devils for a fee in the region of £20m.
It has been revealed by Football Leaks that a figure of £26.7m was agreed, with an initial payment of £13.35m being transferred and a further fee of £6.6m being paid in January.
According to the contract details, the final instalment will be paid at the end of this season, but it has emerged that Depay could end up costing United around £34m if he and the club do well in Europe over the next few years.
Should United qualify for the Champions League and reach the semi-final stage in the next four seasons, the club will have to pay PSV an additional £255,000.
If the Red Devils manage to reach the final then the cost will rise to £510,000 and £1m will be owed if United win the trophy.
