Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reveals that he had to fight in order to prevent Paul Pogba from joining "another big club" in the summer.

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he had to fight in order to convince Paul Pogba to return to Manchester United.

Pogba, 23, completed a return to Man United on August 8 after the Red Devils agreed to pay Juventus £89.3m for a player that left Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer of 2012.

Mourinho, who also arrived at Man United in the summer, has claimed that "another big club" wanted to sign the France midfielder and "it was hard to convince" Pogba to make the switch to the 20-time English champions.

"Oh, it was hard to convince him," Mourinho told Goal.com. "I had many [conversations] on the phone, lots of SMS. I think he was getting one in the morning from the manager from another big club and one in the afternoon from myself. I had to try hard to convince him to choose us instead of the other one."

It is believed that Real Madrid are the team in question, with the Spanish giants also linked with the 40-time French international over the last couple of seasons.
