Jose Mourinho takes swipe at Arsene Wenger's title-winning drought

New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho takes a swipe at Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger over the Frenchman's Premier League title-winning drought.

New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has taken a subtle swipe at Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger by claiming that "some managers" have not won a Premier League title for a decade.

The Portuguese coach spoke to the media today in his first press conference since being appointed Louis van Gaal's successor on a three-year deal.

Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea in December after the team dropped down the league table, but he believes that he only has to prove to himself that he can get back on track at Old Trafford.

While making his point, the 53-year-old made a thinly-veiled dig at Wenger, who last won the title with Arsenal in 2004.

"There are some managers, the last time they won a title was 10 years ago, the last time I won was a year ago," Mourinho told reporters. "If I have a lot to prove then imagine the others.

"I play against myself. That's my feeling many times. I have to prove to myself, that's my nature. I would never be able to work without success. That's my nature. I have to find the reasons why I have so many questions towards myself. That's why I could approach this job in a defensive point of year, the last three years the best we did was fourth, FA Cup.

"When people have year after year the menu, you have to change the menu. For United fans success was just routine and in this last three years I want to forget, I want the players to forget. I don't want them to finish fourth, this is what I do with myself. I'm 53, I'm a very young manager. Or I don't try to prove to myself or my players of going for it then I am in trouble."

Mourinho won three league titles with Chelsea.
