Paul Scholes has labelled Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba as "ridiculous" after his dismissal during the 5-0 defeat against Liverpool.
United endured one of the most humiliating days in their history as they were thoroughly outclassed by their fierce rivals, who scored each of their five goals inside the opening 50 minutes.
Matters got worse for United when Pogba, who had been brought on as a half-time substitute, was sent off for a studs-up challenge on Naby Keita within 15 minutes of his introduction.
Four days after he had predicted such a capitulation, Scholes went on to criticise the mindset of the World Cup winner.
Speaking to the Premier League, Scholes said: "To say a disappointing day would be a complete understatement. Liverpool had too much quality. I don't think it was a lack of effort from United; I think tactically they were set up in a way where this could happen, and unfortunately it did.
"Paul Pogba coming on, giving a goal away and then getting sent off for a ridiculous tackle sums up United's day."
United sit in seventh position in the Premier League standings, eight points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
