Report: Louis van Gaal's future not subject of Manchester United board meeting

A report claims that Manchester United's board did not discuss the future of Louis van Gaal at a meeting held in Mayfair on Tuesday afternoon.

Louis van Gaal's future as Manchester United boss was reportedly not the subject of a board meeting held by the club in Mayfair on Tuesday afternoon.

Speculation was rife that the Dutchman was close to being sacked by the Premier League outfit after it became apparent that a meeting was being chaired by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward in London.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the meeting in question was commercial-related and Van Gaal's future at the helm was not discussed by the board.

Van Gaal is currently under pressure at Old Trafford following a run of six games without a win in all competitions.

As speculation surrounding Jose Mourinho's fondness for the Man United hotseat grows, it is thought that defeat at Stoke City on Boxing Day would see Van Gaal relieved of his duties.

The under-fire boss, whose team lost their last Premier League match at home to Norwich City, is due to address the media on Wednesday ahead of the clash with Stoke.
